An overview of Nested LPNs and how to view them in Flexe.
| IN THIS TOPIC |
This guidance only applies if Scalable Fulfillment Solution (SFS) functionality has been enabled for your reservation(s). For more information about SFS, reach out to your Flexe Logistics Analyst.
A nested LPN is composed of a pallet LPN and one or more carton LPNs. When nested, the pallet LPN is also called a parent LPN and the carton LPNs called child LPNs.
Once a nested LPN is built there are some restrictions on its movement:
- All the contents of the nested LPN move together, they cannot be separated.
- A nested LPN (and its contents) can only be moved by scanning the pallet LPN.
- A nested LPN can only be moved to dock, outbound staging, or pack locations.
To create a nested LPN you will need to build carton LPNs with loose goods from an MHE, then build a a pallet LPN with the new carton LPNs on the MHE. To begin the process of building a nested LPN see Printing LPNs for Build LPN.
Viewing Nested LPNs
You can see parent and child LPN information for Nested LPNs after they are built on Shipment Details, LPN Details and Location Details pages.
Shipment Details
On the shipment details page you can see LPNs built for the shipment in the Contents section.
The second tab in will show LPN information. The title of the tab will change according to the type of parent LPNs built; Pallet LPNs for pallet, Carton LPNs for carton, or just LPNs when a combination of pallet and carton parent LPNs are on the shipment.
You can see also SKU details for carton and pallet LPNs on this page, but details for nested LPNs will be blank here. To see more, select the nested LPN number to go to the LPN Detail page.
LPN Details
Select an LPN ID to view more detailed information on its contents. On this page you can view the LPN type; carton or pallet. You can also search, organize, and download the contents information.
If nested, the LPN type will be a pallet and the contents of the LPN will list each child carton LPN along with its SKU details.
Location Details
Once a Nested LPN is built you can also see it on the MHE or Outbound Locations Detail page where it resides. There you can review, filter, or export the child LPN information, including their parent LPNs, quantities and additional details.
