How to convert Material Handling Equipment (MHE) into carton LPNs to prepare freight shipments for outbound trailer loading.
| IN THIS TOPIC |
This guidance only applies if Scalable Fulfillment Solution (SFS) functionality has been enabled for your reservation(s). For more information about SFS, reach out to your Flexe Logistics Analyst.
Use this process to build carton LPNs from loose goods on an MHE.
If you need to build Pallet LPNs see Building Pallet LPNs. For more information on different LPN types see About Build LPN.
Note: Until they're converted, loose goods do not show in the outbound staging location or on the shipment details page in the Flexe system.
⚠️ Before you start
Before you begin make sure you have the following:
- Flexe Mobile Device
- Mobile User Name assigned to you
- Printed LPNs
Quick Steps
Detailed Steps:
1. Select Build LPN from the home screen.
2. Select New Carton LPN.
3. Scan the MHE.
Scan the MHE used to pick the loose goods.
Note: If any scans or selections are incorrect, select the back button to the upper left, then select Yes, undo and try again.
4. Scan a SKU.
Or select Merge all MHE contents if you want to combine all remaining loose goods on the MHE into the carton LPN you’re currently building.
5. Enter the SKU quantity.
Enter the number of items you’re adding to the carton LPN. Make sure what you enter does not exceed the total quantity available for the SKU.
6. Apply a new Flexe LPN label to the carton and scan it.
7. Select Confirm LPN and next to continue building carton LPNs.
Once you scan the new LPN label, you can select Confirm LPN and Next, if you want to proceed with building additional carton LPNs. This takes you back to the “Scan MHE” screen.
Or, you can select Confirm LPN and quit, to complete the building process and return to the device home screen.
Once confirmed, the carton LPNs remain in the MHE systemically. You can now build them onto a pallet LPN, to create a nested LPN. To continue creating a nested LPN, go to Building Pallet LPNs.
If the cartons do not need to be nested, you can label and move them from the MHE to outbound staging or a trailer load.
After all LPNs are built, you can proceed with generating and adding SSCC pallet labels. To learn more, go to Adding SSCC Labels.
Common Errors
Here are some common errors that can occur during the Build LPN process:
| Issue or Error | How to Troubleshoot |
“Bad Location Type” |
The wrong label or MHE has been scanned. Check to make sure the correct label has been scanned, or that the MHE has not already been built into an LPN.
|
“LPN Already Exists”
|
The LPN scanned already exists in the Flexe system. Check to make sure the pallet has not already been created as an LPN. |
