Generating Bulk Carton SSCC Labels

This document describes how to create and nest cartons into pallet LPNs and produce carton SSCC labels for freight shipments.

Overview for Generating Bulk Carton SSCC Labels

Once inventory has been picked and moved to an MHE, and it has been dropped off to an outbound staging location, the loose goods will need to be converted into standard LPN pallets using the Build LPN application. 

Building an LPN using the mobile device allows the user to generate carton SSCC labels in bulk and print them in the Flexe UI. 

To build pallet LPNs, ensure you have a printed Flexe LPN for each pallet built for the order. You can print LPNs for any freight Shipment Details page (in any status: Not Started, In Process), and the Inbound Deliveries page. 

Note: Printed Shipment LPNs are not linked to a shipment until you scan them during the build process. You can save any unused LPNs for other shipments and print additional LPNs at any time.

Printing LPNS for the Build LPN Process

To print LPNs in the Flexe UI:

1. Go to the Shipments in the left-hand menu.

2. Select the shipment you want to build LPNs for to open the Shipment Details page. 

Tip: Use Select Filter to easily locate shipments based on specific details.

3. Select Print LPN Labels. 

4. Enter the number of LPNs needed and select Generate LPN Labels. 

5. A new tab opens containing the labels in PDF format. Select the print option on the upper right part of the page to print the labels. 

Building a Pallet LPN

To build a pallet LPN on the Flexe mobile device:

1. Select Build LPN from the home screen. 

2. Select New Pallet LPN.

3. Scan the MHE used to pick the Loose Goods that you need to make into a pallet. 

Note: If you make an incorrect scan or selection, select the back button in the upper left, select Yes, undo, and try again. 

4. Scan a new LPN label (from the Printing LPNS for the Build LPN Process). 

5. Select one of two options:
   • Create LPN: This option creates the LPN and allows you to generate SSCC labels through the UI. 
   • Create LPN & Print Labels: This option prints labels for each carton on the pallet through a Bluetooth printer connected to the device. 

The pallet LPN is now built. The shipment in the Flexe UI updates with the pallet (parent) LPN and all nested cartons (child LPNs) associated with the pallet. You will now be able to see the contents of the LPNs on the Shipment Details page under the LPNs tab where it will indicate the LPN type (pallet or carton). 

The inventory has also moved to an outbound staging location . 

Generating Carton SSCC Labels

If you selected Option 1 during the Build Pallet LPN process (Create LPN, printing carton SSCC labels through the UI), or need to generate new SSCC labels for the shipment, complete the following steps in the Flexe UI. 

1. Go to Shipments in the left-hand menu 

2. Select the shipment you want to generate SSCC labels for.
3. In the Documents section of the shipment, find the Carton SSCC Labels line. Select Regenerate to ensure you print the most up-to-date labels.

Note: SSCC label regeneration may take a few minutes. Refresh the page after one minute. 

4. Choose one of two printing options:
   • Print: Prints all SSCC labels for every carton in the shipment.
   • Print by LPN (Recommended): Prints SSCC labels for each carton within a pallet LPN. This option is recommended for shipments with multiple pallet LPNs. 
5. Select Print by LPN.
6. Select Print XX Labels. 

Example: The screenshot below shows 29 cartons on the pallet and 29 labels associated with each carton. 

Note: If the shipment contains multiple pallets, multiple pallet lines will appear for selection. Printing by Pallet LPN allows warehouse workers to associate SSCC labels for each pallet without sorting each carton. 

7. A new tab opens with a PDF of all carton SSCC labels. Print the labels.
8. Return to the Shipment page and select Generate on the Pallet SSCC Labels line. 

Note: You need to generate a Pallet SSCC label to complete the shipment. The warehouse is not required to apply pallet labels, unless required by the customer as well. 

9. Match all labels to the appropriate SKU and apply the carton SSCC labels to the cartons. 
10. The shipment is now ready for staging. 

Troubleshooting Common Errors

Issue or Error	How to Troubleshoot
“Bad Location Type”	The wrong label or MHE has been scanned. Check to make sure you scanned the proper label and the MHE has not already been built into an LPN.
“LPN Already Exists”	The scanned LPN already exists in the Flexe system. Check to make sure the pallet has not already been created as an LPN.
