Receiving Devices
Flexe ships mobile devices with the following accessories:
- Charging station(s) - Charging stations are designed to charge either a single device or four devices at a time (depending on the model). The size and quantity of charging stations you receive will depend on the number of devices in operation at your warehouse. Charging stations come with power adapters and cables.
- Additional batteries - Each device will come with one spare battery.
Upon receiving your device shipment, make sure to unbox and check everything. The devices will also need to be charged before you can proceed with setup.
Important Note: If you notice that anything is damaged or missing upon receiving your devices, contact us at support@flexe.com immediately.
System & Facility Requirements
To use Flexe mobile devices, you'll need reliable access to a Wi-Fi network at your warehouse.
Prior to receiving your devices, check with your IT administrator, facility manager or technical support team to make sure your Wi-FI network has enough bandwidth to support devices, and meets all technical specifications.
To learn more, go to Warehouse Provider Wi-Fi Infrastructure Requirements.
Note: Flexe mobile devices do not support Wireless/LTE connectivity. If you need more information about Wi-Fi requirements, reach out to support@flexe.com.
Connecting Devices to Wi-Fi
Before you start
You may need to coordinate with your IT administrator or tech support if there are firewalls, whitelisting protocols, or other network configurations in place that might impact Wi-Fi setup for your devices.
To complete the connection process, you'll also need to know the current name and password for your Wi-Fi network.
To connect to Flexe mobile devices to Wi-Fi:
1. Select Settings from the home screen.
2. Select Wi-FI.
3. Select your network.
First, check the toggle at the top of the screen to make sure Wi-Fi is set to On.
All Wi-Fi available networks should automatically be listed on the screen under Wi-Fi networks. Look for your warehouse's network name and select it from the list.
Note: If you don't see your network, select Scan at the bottom of the screen to re-scan for networks in range.
4. Enter the network password.
When prompted, enter the network password. Then, select OK to connect.
If the device is able to connect, your network will show as "Connected" back on the Wi-Fi networks screen.
If unable to connect, select your network again and try re-entering the password.
Note: Keep in mind that passwords are typically case-sensitive; if you're having trouble entering the password, reach out to your IT administrator or tech support for additional help.
Device Authorization
Mobile devices must be registered to your warehouse before they can access the Flexe system. This authorization process involves entering the email address and password of a user assigned as a Mobile Manager in Flexe.
For this reason, we recommend having a warehouse supervisor, area manager or any individual assigned as a Mobile Manager on site when devices arrive or when you plan to complete device setup.
You can confirm which users have the Mobile Manager role assigned from the User Management page in Flexe.
Note: To learn more about setting up users and managing user roles, go to User Management for Warehouses. If you need additional help, contact us at support@flexe.com.
To register Flexe mobile devices:
1. Select Flexe Prod from the device home screen.
Select the Flexe Prod icon from the device home screen to launch the device authorization page. If you don't see this screen, skip to the next step.
2. Enter the email address.
Tap into the Email text box to enter the email address for a user with the Mobile Manager role assigned in Flexe. Then select, Next at the bottom of the keypad.
3. Enter the password.
Use the Password text box to enter the password associated with the Mobile Manager's email address. Then, select Done at the bottom of the keypad.
4. Assign to a warehouse.
To complete authorization, you'll be prompted to assign the device to your warehouse.
Your warehouse should be selected by default in the dropdown menu. However, if your reservation has multiple warehouses, you'll need to open the dropdown and select your warehouse from the list.
Once you've confirmed your warehouse, select Assign.
The device should then open to the Sign In screen, which is where warehouse staff members will enter their mobile user name and passcode to start using the device.
Important Note: Once authorization is complete, the device is assigned to your warehouse and can only be used there. Do NOT physically move devices to other warehouses/sites, or try to use the same devices across multiple warehouses/sites.
Device Sign In
To access the Flexe system from the device, warehouse staff members need to sign in with their mobile user name and passcode.
Note: This is the user name and PIN created during mobile user setup in the Flexe web platform. You can add and manage mobile users from the User Management page. To learn more, go to Creating Mobile Users.
To sign in:
1. Enter your mobile user name.
Tap into the User Name text box and enter your Flexe mobile user name. Then select, Next at the bottom of the keypad.
2. Enter your passcode.
Enter your mobile user passcode/PIN. Then select Done.
3. Select Sign In.
The device will the launch the Flexe home screen. The user name for the currently signed in user shows at the top of the screen; and the device will remain signed in while actively in use.
Testing Devices
Prior to incorporating them into your daily workflows, it's best to test Flexe mobile devices to make sure they're functioning as intended.
A good feature to use for testing is Lookup Details. With this feature, you can search for items and look up a wide variety information within the Flexe system, including locations, LPNs, SKUs, shipments and more.
Select Lookup Details from the home screen to launch the feature. Then, try scanning a location, shipment or item barcode to confirm that the device is responding and showing valid results.
Note: To learn more about using Lookup Details, go to Lookup Details.
If you notice something is not functioning properly during the testing process, contact us at support@flexe.com or reach out to your Flexe Logistics Analyst.
