How to create locations-based cycle counts in Flexe, to count inventory by warehouse location.
| IN THIS TOPIC |
You can create and manage cycle counts from the Cycle Counts page in Flexe. If you want the count(s) to be organized by warehouse location, use the Count by Location feature. With location-based counts, you can select specific locations, or enter a range of locations to include in the count.
Before you start
Make sure you've made all necessary preparations for the cycle counting process. Working on fulfillment or inventory tasks at the same time as a cycle count will invalidate that count, and you'll need to start over.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Plan to perform the count at the end-of-shift, beginning-of-shift or another time when no fulfillment activity is occurring.
- All inbounds and outbounds for impacted SKUs and/or locations should be temporarily paused.
- The system will automatically lock all locations and/or SKUs included in the count(s), so they cannot be used for fulfillment or inventory-related activities.

Creating Locations-Based Cycle Counts
To create locations-based cycle counts in Flexe:
1. Open Cycle Counts from the left menu, then select Create Cycle Count.
2. Select the locations to be counted.
First, open the Count By dropdown at the top of the page and select Location. You can then select all the locations that need to be included in the count.
Add locations one-at-a-time by selecting the "add" icon next to each one.
Note: You can use the Filter by Location box to search for specific locations by name, to narrow the list of countable locations shown on the page.
Select a Range of Locations
Alternatively, you can use the +Select a range of locations option to add multiple locations within a specified range.
You'll be prompted to select starting and ending locations for the range. Enter the first location under Start at, and the last location under End at (e.g. A01 - A88).
Note: Make sure to enter the actual location names. The Start at and End at text boxes will start suggesting relevant location results after you enter at least three characters.
Then, select Add to cycle count to add all the locations within the range to the count.
3. Select Count Selected.
Once you’ve added all the locations to be included in the count, select Count Selected.
In the window that opens, you can review all the selected locations. Use the Number of counts to create section to enter how many individual counts you want to create. It can be helpful to break things up by the number of mobile users who will be working on the count.
Once you enter a number, the system shows the estimated amount of locations that will be included in each individual count.
Note: You can have a maximum of 150 locations in a single count. If you exceed this maximum, you'll get an error message with guidance on how many counts you'll need to enter to proceed.
4. Enter the reference ID.
Use the Reference ID section to add a reference ID. This will help you keep track of the count throughout the process--especially if you entered a large number of counts to create in the previous step.
5. Select Create.
This takes you back to the main Cycle Counts page, where you can review all the counts you created. The status will show as Pending, and you can find the reference ID you entered under Reference.
The Created By column indicates who created the count, while the Created column shows the date and time the count was entered.
Starting Counts
After you've created the count(s), you'll need to start them so they can be accessed on Flexe mobile devices for the physical counting process. To learn more, go to Starting Cycle Counts.
