Creating SKU-Based Cycle Counts

How to create SKU-based cycle counts in Flexe, to count inventory by specific items.

You can create and manage cycle counts from the Cycle Counts page in Flexe. If you want the count(s) to be organized by specific SKUs or items, use the Count by Item feature. 

Before you start

Make sure you've made all necessary preparations for the cycle counting process. Working on fulfillment or inventory tasks at the same time as a cycle count will invalidate that count, and you'll need to start over. 

Here are some things to keep in mind: 

• Plan to perform the count at the end-of-shift, beginning-of-shift or another time when no fulfillment activity is occurring. 
• All inbounds and outbounds for impacted SKUs and/or locations should be temporarily paused.
• The system will automatically lock all locations and/or SKUs included in the count(s), so they cannot be used for fulfillment or inventory-related activities.

Creating SKU-Based Cycle Counts

To create SKU-based cycle counts in Flexe: 

1. Open Cycle Counts from the left menu, then select Create Cycle Count. 

2. Select the items to be counted. 

First, open the Count By dropdown at the top of the page and select Item. 

Note: If you have multiple reservations, also make sure to select the relevant one from the Reservation dropdown. If you would like to count SKUs from more than one reservation at your warehouse, you must create separate Cycle Counts for each reservation.

A list of all countable items in the Item Master then shows onscreen. You can add items to the count one-at-a-time by selecting the   "add" icon next to each one.

Note: You can also use the Filter by SKU or description box at the top of the page to search for specific items by SKU number or description. The page will automatically refresh to show relevant results; you can then add each item to the count, as needed. 

3. Select Count Selected. 

Once you’ve added all the items to be included in the count, select Count Selected. 

In the window that opens, you can review all the items selected. To proceed with creating a count for these items, select Yes, create.

The detail page for the count then opens on screen. The status will show as Pending, with a list of all items to be counted.  

Note: You can use the View by Location option at the top of the screen to view the count by locations instead of by item. 

You can also access the new count from the main Cycle Counts page. Again, the new count will show as Pending. The Created By column indicates who created the account, while the Created column shows the date and time the count was entered.

Note: The Reference ID for the count is automatically set as date the count was created. You can view the Reference ID under the Reference column on the main Cycle Counts page. Reference IDs can help you keep track of counts throughout the process. 

Starting Counts

After you've created the count(s), you'll need to start them so they can be accessed on Flexe mobile devices for the physical counting process. To learn more, go to Starting Cycle Counts.
