Understanding Waving
Waving is the first step in fulfilling shipments within Flexe. It sorts shipments into groups for picking based on specific criteria. The multi-pick functionality allows you to create a single wave and divide it into multiple batches. Each batch can be assigned to a different picker, enabling simultaneous picking for a single shipment.
Key Details
- Only one freight shipment can be waved at a time for multiple pickers
- To wave multiple shipments simultaneously, use the standard waving process. One wave is created for each shipment, containing one batch for each wave --- only one mobile user can actively work on the shipment at a time. To learn more about the standard waving process, go to Waving Shipments.
Waving Shipments for Multiple Pickers
1. Navigate to Shipments: On the Flexe UI, select Shipments from the left menu to access your outbound shipments.
2. Filter for Shipments in Not Started status: Click Status filter and check for the Not Started status to see all new shipments.
3. Select Shipment ID: Click the desired shipment to go to the Shipment Details screen.
4. Click Wave: On the upper right part of the screen, click the Wave button to wave the desired shipment.
5. Specify Batches: Under Batches per Wave, enter the desired number of batches or number of pickers that will work on this shipment. Optionally you can also specify a staging location. Click Wave Shipment.
Note: If the shipment is all the same SKU, the batches will not split.
You have now successfully waved the shipment for 2 batches and 2 pickers.
Note: Inventory in optimal picking locations is held for seven days upon waving. The system refreshes inventory directions when a picker scans a batch to ensure accuracy and that users are sent to inventory that is still available.
Navigating Waves & Batches
1. Select Waves & Batches from the left menu of the Flexe UI.
2. Filter Shipments: Use the Filter by dropdown to search by Shipment ID or other criteria. Enter the shipment information and select Add.
3. View Results: The page will display the wave with the corresponding number of batches matching your shipment.
Printing Documents
- Print Documents for the Full Wave: From the Waves & Batches page, select Print All Documents button next to the desired wave.
-
Print Individual Batches: From the Waves & Batches page, expand the wave details to view individual batches. Click the three dots next to the batch and select Print Batch.
- Print from the Shipment: From the Shipment Details page, go to Documents portion of the page, and select the Print button on the Wave Documents line.
Canceling a Wave
1. Check Batch Status: Ensure no batches associated with the wave are In Progress.
If you try to cancel a wave with batches already in progress, an error message will appear prompting you to remove any goods picked for the shipment.
Remove them on the Shipment Details page by Going to the Edit Menu of the LPN tab, and clicking Remove LPN from Shipment, as well as physically moving the LPNs back to storage using the Move Items app on the Flexe mobile device. To learn more, go to Removing LPNs from a Shipment.
Once you've removed any picked LPNs, you can proceed with canceling the wave.
2. Access Wave Details: Select the Wave ID to view the details page.
2. Cancel Wave: Click the three dots on the upper right of the screen and select Cancel Wave.
3. Click Confirm.
The wave will now reflect a cancelled status.
